DESCRIPTION :
Wheel Marking Gauge streamlines that critical first step in any handtool joinery project...precise layout. A razor-sharp, ultra-thin circular blade slices woodfibers cleanly, leaving behind a clearly visible line that is less than 1/5 the width of typicalmechanical pencils. Not only is the line crisper, but since it is a cut (instead of merely amark), it provides physical registration for your chisel or saw. A brass referenceplate keeps you solidly on track as you work. And a fine-threaded micro-adjust mechanismmakes controlling the plate-to-blade dimension effortless.

KEY FEATURES :
• This has been most carpenters favorite marking gauge for 5 years and an indispensable tool to use when laying out woodworking joinery.
• Both Imperial and Metric measurements along the shaft
• Head, adjustment knob and tail are all solid brass and incredible gorgeous.
•Head is 1.7" (44mm) in diameter and can be micro adjusted with one hand using and 0.75" diameter knurled adjustment screw.
•Cutter is replaceable (replacements available on our website)
•Cutter 0.375" and is made from hardened steel and easily slices across wood grain, both with and against the grain.
•The cutter retracts into countersunk head to protect it when not in use.
•The steel beam is 7"(180mm) long by 5/16"(8mm) in diameter, is hardened and has a groove milled along one edge to prevent head from rotating during fine adjustments.

Works as described, happy with results.

Does as promised. I used this often for marking where I need to cut. Leaves a minimal mark, less obvious than pencil marks, etc.

Accurate, easy to use woodworking tool

If you are a confirmed carpenter then you already know how useful a marking gauge is. If you aren't, then this is a great tool for scribing lines parallel to a straight edge of a piece of timber. You tighten the brass guide at the desired measurement and then run it down the wood, scratching a shallow line with the small sharp ring at the end of the rod. Make the first scribe shallow and concentrate on keeping the guide against the edge. Repeat to get a clearer impression. The rod itself is steel and sticks nicely to a magnetic tool holder. The ring has a flat side that stops the tool rolling off the bench. The marking are accurate and it is possible to be just a little better with small measurements than using a ruler and pencil.

Well Made and Accurate

Seems to be very well made. Makes marking cut lines repeatable and accurate easy. I'll take this over a pencil and square for cuts that require extreme precision any day.

Excellent quality for the price

Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this set. It functions perfectly, and the machining and quality of materials is what you would expect from much more expensive tools.
